Hearing the voice of God

It may be a mystery to many people and sadly it is a strange thing to many Christians also, but people were created to be able to hear from God. What sort of child grows up in a family where there father does not speak to them? If it does not happen on earth neither should it be that way with our Father in heaven. Our Father longs to talk to you and make Himself known to you.

Many people are afraid to open up to the possibility of God speaking to them as they think that demons will be able to speak to them and trick them. This is a valid fear alright, but we have a God that loves us and this fear should not get in the way of a loving God who wants to speak to us.

Some people fear God and the idea that God would speak directly to them is too much for them. It says in scripture that perfect love casts out all fear. This means if our fears overwhelm us we just need to praise God and build up our love for Him and our fears will vanish.

God is a personal being. He desires to speak to you and lead you and show you the secrets of His Kingdom. He wants to know you and help you with your life. There is no detail too little for Him to want to be involved in.

Some people do not feel worthy enough for God to speak to them. They feel that God is too busy with other people that are more important. These people assume that God is limited like us. These people need to know that God can have five million conversations at once with people. When that is considered the sense of worthiness has to be addressed. Once again love is the answer to that.

Here is a prayer:

Dear Father

I want to know you and have you speak to me. Please start to speak to me as I ask you questions, please answer them for me. I desire to speak to you and I ask that you would speak back to me as I want to grow closer to you.
